ECO BUILDING PROJECT

“The meeting space”

The objective of this activity is to imagine a “beside the school” eco-building, dedicated to pupils , where they could meet, do coworking, rest and have quiet moments, respecting as many eco-construction rules as possible.

Pupils of different countries involved in the project should produce plans, and models maybe using wood or cork or cardboard

Mathematical constraints

• To honour our Greek guests, the building must contain proportions, calculus or shapes making reference to the old Greek mathematicians: Pythagoras, Thales…

• Dimensions of the building must not exceed two hundred squared meters on the floor; the height must not exceed three meters.

• The plan must contain different views of the building

• The model will be transported by plane (for Spain, Italy and France): imagine something that can be disassembled. You can choose the reducing scale

• Be creative with the form of the building!

Other constraints

• Imagine a solution to cool the building without air conditioned: open windows to make an air circulation, plants, water bonds…

• Building must be autonomous concerning electricity

• Building must be eco-responsible for materials used: wood, stones, straw… Try to propose recycled material

• There must be different spaces in the building plan: one space for coworking, one to rest, one meeting space

• You must design a one floor building
