ERASMUS 2025-2026: ASCHAFFENBURG PARTNERSHIP GREEN MOBILITY - Let’s bike ! 🚲🚲🚲
9 French students from Lycée Alain Borne in Montélimar and 9, from Malle Highschool in Belgium, met up for a one-week Erasmus mobility in Aschaffenburg, and were asked to work with their German partners on the issue of Green mobility - November 16-23, 2025.
Transnational teams were set up every morning so they would resort to English (a common language) to carry out their various works.
A variety of tasks were performed, from debates to model construction projects, from interviews to oral presentations in connection with the place given to bike lanes in various capitals – and all underscored that the bike has now secured a valuable place in commuting journeys, and that local authorities are placed under growing pressure to improve the biking lane network in their cities throughout Europe.
While the push admittedly given to that change cannot be overlooked, there is still much room for improvement as many people are still viewing the road network as the privilege of car drivers : a blatant truth shown in the documentary the European partners watched together at Aschaffenbur cinema – BikesVsCars. Unmistakably, this project has been – and will be, an opportunity to raise their awareness to the stakes relative to developing green mobility.
The European budget allocated to that project makes it possible for a number of students to discover other ways of life in neighbouring countries at a nominal cost, and for each of them, family accomodation is beyond a doubt the best option to live it to the full. This time again, the hosts’ welcome was amazing, allowing all those teenagers to build strong links with their partners, until they they meet again in Belgium next January, and in France in the spring. The organisers will then endeavour to offer as positive an experience as that offerd by our German counterparts.
